Appearance

  • Deep ruby red with purple reflections.

Nose

  • The aroma is rich and dark with blackberry, plum, raisin and a touch of dark chocolate.

Taste

  • The palate is super smooth with balanced acidity and structured tannins. Flavours of jammy red fruits, black fruits, sweet spices and dark chocolate.

The prime grapes used in the fermentation of Zenato’s Amarone fermentation are kept aside as pomace. The best Valolicella red wine is then passed over this pomace to trigger a second fermentation, enhancing the Valpolicella’s structure, colour and aroma. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 20 months followed by further aging in bottle before release.

Zenato

  • Founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato with the goal of investing in native grape varieties of the Valpolicella region. Until that point many older vines had been replaced by more commercially popular French grapes. Today Zenato hold 95 hectares of vines in the regions of Valpolicella, Lugana and Tuscany. The Zenato vineyards are built on stone wall terraces that date back to the time of ancient Rome.
