Appearance
- A wonderfully dense purple to red in the glass.
Nose
- The aroma is powerful and complex with notes of ripe dark forest fruits, tobacco, toasted baking spices and vanilla.
Taste
- The palate is smooth and velvety with rich flavours of blackcurrant, morello cherry, cocoa, dark chocolate, and spices.
Harvest took place in late august, slightly earlier than normal due to the 2022 vintage being so incredibly hot. Hand harvested grapes are macerated for 25 days at 28 degrees before fermentation in a mix of stainless steel and French oak barriques. The Wine was then aged for 6 months in that same vat and barrique mix and then aged further in bottle for 3 months.
Tenuta Argentiera
- The area from which this house hails was once home to the Argentiera silver mines, and whilst the area once did grow vines, it wasn’t until the boom of so called ‘Super Tuscans’ that the area really began to stand out for making Bordeaux style blends. In 1999, Austrian entrepreneur Stanislaus Turnauer began to plant vines closer to the Tyrrhenian Sea than any before. It turned out to be a stellar decision as now the wines of this house are some of the highest rated Super Tuscans
ABV: 14.5%
