Appearance

  • Straw yellow with touches of green and a light haze in the glass.

Nose

  • On the nose this wine is highly aromatic with notes of meadow flowers, lemon zest, golden grapefruit, quince, peach and yeast.

Taste

  • The palate is fresh and juicy with plenty of stone fruit balanced with racing lemon acidity and a touch of sea salt. The finish is harmonious with a mix of herbs and lemon zest.

A blend of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau. The grapes are grown with biodynamic cultivation and harvested by hand. Spontanious, wild yeast fermentation is followed by barrel fermentation and malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled with yeast to build complexity and flavour.

Weingut Schätzel

  • The Schätzel family have been producing wine in the Rheinhessen since 1350. For over 650 years the family have been producing wines that perfectly represent the unique terroir of their vineyards. Most of their plots feature a rare red shale on steep slopes that lend all their wines a distinct minerality. Caroline and Kai Schätzel took charge of the winery in 2008 and began to dedicate their work around the slow, natural style of Bio-dynamic winemaking.
