Maison Ferraton Père & Fils – Saint-Joseph Les Oliviers 2020

Appearance

• Bright pale golden in the glass

Nose

• On the nose we find aromas of white flowers, soft ripe stone fruit like peach and nectarine and a hint of toast.

Taste

• A complex and floral wine with good citrus acidity underlaying a mix of juicy stone fruit, green apple, chamomile and a long-lasting mineral line.

The grapes for this wine come from vines planted with a south facing exposure for optimum sunshine. The soils is a mix of marl, clay and limestone with some sand. After pressing the must was cold settled then fermented in large 600 litre oak barrels. The wine goes through full malolactic fermentation and then sat on fine lees for ten months.

Maison Ferraton Père & Fils

• Founded in 1946 by Jean-Orëns Ferratos, who’s family have been making wine for generation in Hermitage. Over the years the family have expanded their holding to include Saint-Joseph and Croze-Hermitage. After establishing a high-quality negociant, the family then turned to more organic practices and biodynamic farming, hoping to one day make all their portfolio in this manner.
