La Fleur d’Or – Sauternes

Appearance

• A deep golden straw colour in the glass with an almost syrupy body.

Nose

• On the nose we find aromas of apricot, honey, marmalade and peaches.

Taste

• The palate is rich and sweet as a classic Sauternes should be. Flavours of honeyed stone fruit, ripe peaches, marmalade and a light balancing spice.

The grapes are hand sorted before crushing to ensure only the best fruit goes into the wine. This classic sauternes is made using the Noble rot method. This is where a late harvest of grapes allows the growth of Botrytis fundus that draws out water from the grapes before fermentation.

La Fleur d’Or

• La Fleur d’Or is a project started by wine trader and expert Bill Blatch. Blatch combines small batches of wines that he finds from lesser-known producers and bits from some crus classes that don’t quite make the Grand vin.
