Georges Duboeuf – Beaujolais Villages

Appearance

• A deep garnet with a touch of purple.

Nose

• An intense Beaujolais with aromas of red and black fruits like raspberries, redcurrant and blackcurrant.

Taste

• The palate in velvety smooth with easy drinking tannins and decent acidity pairing those fruit red and black fruit notes.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine made with carbonic maceration; this is where grapes are fermented whole. This process allows maximum flavour and colour extraction with minimal tannins. The wine is aged in barrel for a short time to help mellow out the flavours.

Georges Duboeuf

• Founded in 1964 by Georges Duboeuf, this is a great big cooperative of over 300 winemakers from the Beaujolais and Maconnais. The Duboeuf family had been making wine in the Maconnais for over 400 years, when Georges took over the vineyards from his uncle, he immediately feel in love with winemaking. Over the years, Georges sold his family estate wines to some of the biggest Michelin star restaurants, and when he began to run out of wine, he started to work with the best local winemakers to help fill the demand. Eventually this led to the big cooperative that exists today.
