Georges Duboeuf – Beaujolais Nouveau

Appearance

A vibrant bright purple in the glass with reflections of ruby red.

Nose

• This is a vibrant and intense wine on the nose with notes of reg grape, wild strawberry, raspberry and plenty of that classical bubble-gum expected from a Beaujolais Nouveau.

Taste

• A delicate yet expressive wine with flavours of fresh raspberries, alpine strawberries, red currant, cherry and some candy floss

Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine made with carbonic maceration; this is where grapes are fermented whole. This process allows maximum flavour and colour extraction with minimal tannins. The Nouveau is an En Primeur, meaning its best drunk young. Beaujolais Nouveau is only released on the third Thursday of November.

Georges Duboeuf

• Founded in 1964 by Georges Duboeuf, this is a great big cooperative of over 300 winemakers from the Beaujolais and Maconnais. The Duboeuf family had been making wine in the Maconnais for over 400 years, when Georges took over the vineyards from his uncle, he immediately feel in love with winemaking. Over the years, Georges sold his family estate wines to some of the biggest Michelin star restaurants, and when he began to run out of wine, he started to work with the best local winemakers to help fill the demand. Eventually this led to the big cooperative that exists today.
