Don Manuel Villafañe – Malbec Reserve

Appearance

• A super deep, almost inky purple in the glass.

Nose

• On the nose we find aromas of plums, morello cherry, truffle, chocolate an vanilla.

Taste

• The palate is fruity and juicy but mellow with smooth tannins and flavours of cherry, blackberry, truffle, cocoa, mocha and vanilla.

The Malbec grapes are harvested by hand from Villafane’s Maipu vineyard. They are soft pressed and macerated before fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 12 months and then in bottle for a further 12 months.

Don Manuel Villafañe

• The winery was founded in 2008 and named after Don Mauel Villafañe, a Spanish Soldier who travelled to Argentina to help protect Spanish ships from English pirates. After his service Don Manuel settled in Argentina and became one of the first to plant vines in the country. Today the company has 80 hectares of vineyards and produces a range of grape varieties.
