Appearance

  • Pale yellow in the glass with greenish highlights.

Nose

  • The aroma features notes of peach, honeydew melon, flinty minerality and honeyed lemon peel.

Taste

  • The palate is acid driven with strong saline minerality, golden apple, honeydew melon and white stone fruit.

The soil here is ancient marine style laid down in the Pliocene era. Only the best grapes from the estate are hand selected. The grapes are cooled and pressed. Each grape variety is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks for 15 days. 5% of the overall wine is fermented in barriques with malolactic fermentation. The wine is then blended together and aged in bottle for a yar before release.

Decugnano dei Barbi

  • Winemaking on this land dates all the way back to 1212 when two clerics, Giovanni and Pietro were responsible for cultivating vines for the Cathedral of Orvieto. Fast-forward to 1973, Claudio Barbi bought the land and found it completely abandoned, Claudio renovated the land and buildings, founding Decugnano dei Barbi. Since then, the family have produced a range of wines, including one of the first Umbrian Traditional Method sparkling white.
