Cloof Wine Estate – Winemakers Collection Pinotage

Appearance

• Deep ruby red in the glass.

Nose

• The nose is rich with aromas of plums, cherries, blackberries and redcurrant and a hint of cigar box.

Taste

• The palate is as intense as the nose featuring similar notes of black and red berries, plums and smoke. The well integrated, soft tannins make this an incredibly smooth wine with a long-lasting finish.

The grapes for this series come from older, low-yielding bush vines in the Darling wine region. The grapes are harvested in late January and macerated for 4 days in a cold soak. The juice is then warm fermented with twice-daily pump overs. Once fermented the wine undergoes 12 months of French oak aging.

Cloof Wine Estate

• The Afrikaans word Kloof translates to a gap or gorge between 2 hills. The Cloof winery is situated in one such Kloof with the ‘C’ being the old-fashioned Dutch spelling. Cloof’s oldest surviving vines date back to 1966, and decades of experience have gone into making sun kissed sauvignon Blancs, bold Shiraz and rich Pinotage.
