Babylon’s Peak – Cabernet Sauvignon

Appearance

• A rich red with garnet highlights in the glass.

Nose

• The nose is fruity driven with aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry and damsons.

Taste

• The palate is medium bodied with soft tannins and a super smooth finish. Flavours of blackcurrant, plums, red cherry, damson and clove.

The grapes for this wine are planted on granite rich, high-altitude vineyards. When picked the grapes are pressed and only free run juice is used for fermentation.

Babylon’s Peak

• The Basson family have been farming the slopes of Paardeberg mountain since 1919. Four generations have tended to the vines before Stephan Basson founded the commercial name Babylon’s Peak Winery. The name comes from a local term ‘Babylonstoren’ or ‘The Tower of Babylon’, a phrase used to describe the tall Granite peak on which the farm is situated.
